What an incredible weekend for our students! The Chess Academy (TCA) team is still buzzing with excitement following the recent Hong Kong Junior Chess Championships 2026. Our TCA players didn’t just compete; they dominated, delivering a performance that far surpassed even our highest expectations.
Our students delivered an outstanding overall performance, winning 5 out of the 7 categories and securing a stellar 2nd place finish in another. While chess is often seen as a solitary battle of wits, these results are a testament to the vibrant, competitive, and supportive group culture we’ve built together at TCA.

History in the Making: A massive special shoutout to Chloe Lau, who delivered a legendary performance. According to the Hong Kong Chess Federation, Chloe’s victory in the U14 category marks a historic milestone: she is the first girl in Hong Kong history to ever be crowned the overall champion in U14 section.
Celebrating Our Female Champions
Beyond the open rankings, our girls continue to lead the way in the chess community. We are incredibly proud to celebrate:
- Sarah Sun – U10 Female Champion
- Chloe Lau – U14 Overall Female Champion
Success on the board starts long before the first pawn is moved. This victory belongs to the entire TCA family. From every lesson coached by our world-class instructors to the seamless coordination from our admin team, every “grain of sand” has helped build this mountain of success.
Our group environment encourages students to push one another, share strategies, and grow collectively. This sustained excellence is proof that a strong culture breeds champions. (And to our U18 competitors—you were safe this time as Thambu and Henry sat this one out, but we’ll be back for that category soon! 😅)
