On Sunday, October 27, the TCA proudly concluded its inaugural HKG&W Tournament, a landmark event dedicated to empowering female chess players. With 40 participants, including both adults and children, the tournament was a vibrant celebration of skill, camaraderie, and passion for the game.

A Day of Excitement and…
The tournament featured a fun but intense series of 7 rounds, where players showcased their talents and strategies in pursuit of the coveted winner titles. Each match was filled with thrilling moments, as participants displayed determination and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of chess.

Community Building
During lunchtime, players enjoyed delicious pizza and refreshing drinks, fostering an atmosphere of relaxation and camaraderie. This break allowed participants to share experiences, strategies, and forge new friendships, reinforcing the community aspect of the event.

Learning from the Masters
The tournament concluded with a special simul session featuring TCA’s esteemed coaches: WFM Sigappi, WIM Lina, and WIM Melissa. Their insights into the game, personal experiences, and goals in chess inspired aspiring players, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and support in the chess community.

The primary goal of the TCA HKG&W Tournament was to encourage more women and girls to participate in chess playing. By providing a welcoming environment and highlighting female role models, we hope to inspire the next generation of chess enthusiasts to embrace the game.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the participants, coaches, and parents who made this event possible. Your enthusiasm and dedication have laid the groundwork for future tournaments that celebrate and uplift female players in chess.

Stay tuned for more exciting events from the TCA as we continue to promote inclusivity and empowerment in the chess community!

Our Next Tournament will be the TCA Novice Tournament 2024 on Nov 10!
